Are you training according to your aspirations? Are you working according to your aspirations? There is not a light switch that turns on and off, with ease. Your comfort zone is your behavioral space where your activities and behavior fit a routine and pattern that minimize stress and risk. It provides a state of mental security.

In order to maximize performance, we need a state of relative anxiety – a space where stress levels are slightly higher than normal. This space is called “Optimal Anxiety”and it’s just outside our comfort zone. Too much anxiety and we’re too stressed to be productive, and our performance drops off sharply.

Your comfort zone is neither a good thing or bad thing. It’s a natural state that most people tend towards. “Increased Performance” and “Enhanced Productivity” – just sound like do more stuff. You get so much more when you step outside of your comfort zone.

  • You’ll be more productive – comfort kills productivity
  • You’ll have an easier time dealing with news and unexpected changes
  • You’ll find it easier to push your boundaries in the future
  • You’ll find it easier to brainstorm and harness your creativity.
