Developing Balance along with the ability to maintain and increase hip mobility and stability are two things that any Athlete would love to have in their tool box. Balance poses improve and build: feet, legs, and core strength. On top of mobility and stability you also want to strengthen the hips with one leg balance poses. Working on balance also enhances body awareness and proprioception plus trains: focus and concentration (the mental game).

Most athletes believe they are strong, yet put them in a ‘Yoga For Athletes’ Class and they struggle to hold, tree pose. The more control you have over your body, the better technique and form, the better control over how you move in your sport (movement efficiency). It’s important for Athletes to learn how to stand on one leg and find your balance.

Balance Poses can also also help correct the potential imbalances between left and right side, that get reinforced in sports (one side dominant). These poses can help with Balance between upper and lower body by building your all important core:

  • Tree Pose
  • Half Moon
  • Eagle
  • 1 Leg Hip Opener
  • Warrior 3
  • Airplane
